Employment and Income

Tucson’s income distribution differs substantially from that of the United States as a whole. The median income in Tucson for 2010 was $44,274, while the median income for the nation was $50,046. This difference is reflected in the tendency for Tucson’s income distribution to skew toward the lower end in comparison with that of the US.

There is also considerable income inequality within Pima County as measured by the Gini Coefficient which ranges from zero (perfect equality) to 1 (Maximum inequality).
