Connections between Neighborhoods and Activity

Special pathways for pedestrians and bicyclists represent safer alternatives for residents to move within and between communities. Public transportation, including small scale multi-passenger vans also add to our ability to reduce dependence on the automobile. These kinds of investments in our transportation infrastructure have been included in the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan adopted by the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) in 2010.

Although considerable progress has already been made, the scope of the bicycle and pedestrian plans for the future are quite extensive, as this map suggests ( or click map below to enlarge). Keep in mind, however, that the funds budgeted for bike and pedestrian improvements represent only 3 percent of the RTP2040 total.
