Modern Streetcar Corridor

Tucson’s Modern Streetcar is expected to influence the development of the neighborhoods along its path. Current plans call for community specific plans for eight different “character areas” from the Western to the Eastern Terminus. As plans for the development of these neighborhoods continue to be shaped, it is important for us to pay attention to the very different socioeconomic characteristics of the neighborhoods in which stations will be built. Income, educational attainment, and housing and transportation costs are among the most important indicators of socioeconomic status. This map identifies 21 stations initially planned, and it includes data about the populations within a half mile of each station. This information has been provided by the Center for Transit Oriented Development, and is based primarily on US Census data.
