Beth Weinstein and Joseph Miranda Headed for Japan
SoA Associate Professor Beth Weinstein and fourth year BArch student Joseph Miranda will participate in Community Week 2013: Material Equilibrium in Tokyo next month. Beth will join and international team of architects and architecture students for the first in a series of annual community weeks to connect art and design with social and environmental issues. This year's Community Week will comprise of three parts: a privileged visit to the Ise Jingu Shrine, a design charrette at the Tohoku megaquake site, and a symposium in Tokyo, co-hosted with The University of Tokyo, Department of Architecture, Kuma Library.
As a condition of her invitation acceptance, Beth was asked to invite an SoA student to participate in the symposium with her. After a call for Expressions of Interest and a a careful review process, Joseph was selected from among 12 very qualified candidates.
