Introductory Physics, without calculus, for liberal arts students and biological science majors. Students needing a laboratory should register for Physics 181. Topics include motion of particles in one and two dimensions, forces, Newton's laws, energy, momentum, angular momentum, and conservation laws, gravitation, fluids: Archimedes and Bernoulli, mechanical waves, sound, temperature, heat, heat engines, laws of thermodynamics.

Quantitative experiments in physics, both illustrative and exploratory. Designed to accompany 102 or 131; sections are established corresponding to each course.

Appropriate Math Placement Level or MATH 109C, 110, 112, 113, 120, 120R, 124, 125, 129, 223 or Proctored/Prep for Calculus 45+ or Proctored/Prep for College Algebra 55+. Prerequisite or concurrently enrolled in PHYS 102.
