Landscape Architecture Faculty Candidate Lectures Friday, February 13, 2015 CAPLA Room 103 2:15 - 3:30 pm Beverly J Bass BFA, MLA, RLA, LEED-AP Beverly is currently an associate professor at California Polytechnic State University. She holds a BFA and MLA, and has worked in all aspects of professional practice in landscape architecture. She is a registered landscape architect in the state of California, a LEED accredited professional, and a certified arborist. Her teaching focuses on the environmental design and planning realm, particularly the exploration of urban ecology. She has led studios that examined innovative stormwater design, taught in the digital arena, including a CAD and digital media support course, and in construction document studios. Her research agenda is built around sustainable communities, including multi-¬‐modal transit. Her current research focuses on walkability in our existing infrastructures. She has submitted her work to various design competitions and published and presented at national and international conferences. César Torres-Bustamante BARCH, MLA, PhD in Landscape Architecture Cesar is currently an assistant professor at California Polytechnic State University. He holds a BARCH, MLA, and PhD in landscape architecture. He has taught at RMIT University (Australia) and currently teaches at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. His teaching includes design studios (including co-teaching an interdisciplinary studio between architecture and landscape architecture), site engineering, and digital media support and exploration courses. During his tenure at Cal Poly, he has focused on design and representation and introduced digital fabrication tools to the Landscape Architecture department. His scholarly interest focuses on the representation of landscapes, specifically on techniques that convey and depict the transient and unfolding character of landscape events. He has submitted his work to various design competitions and published and presented at national and international conferences.
