Master of Science in Planning graduates are well prepared to find employment in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Hands-on learning experiences and connections to professional organizations enable our students to excel in their careers after graduation.

My two years at the University of Arizona offered the ability to work in internships that provided real hands on experience. Those experiences became rocket fuel for the positions I took after graduating. The program and the skills I learned while getting my degree were the foundation for my career in the public service. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the UA Planning program.

CAPLA helped to facilitate a mid-career shift for me. The program offered a comfortable, small-scale learning environment with a fantastic studio space. Professors and professional mentors were generous with their time and advice, and the program encouraged engagement with national, state, and local APA resources. The combination of coursework, research opportunities, the capstone project, and professional development requirements were invaluable to my learning and the eventual job search.

The Master of Science in Planning (MSP) from the University of Arizona provided me with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career I once only dreamed of. I am thankful every day for the hands-on learning experience I was provided and the opportunity to solve real world problems as part of my coursework.  Thank you CAPLA, Bear Down!

Planner II for Long-Range Planning and Community Development - City of Tempe, Arizona

While at CAPLA, I had the chance to work with some great professors and community advocacy agencies on multidisciplinary research that spanned equity, health and planning. I gained leadership and organizational skills and had the opportunity be published in the Journal of American Planning Association. I also developed valuable relationships with professor who I now consider mentors and continue to stay in touch with today!
