Cannon is a project manager and archaeological field director with WestLand Resources, Inc., a private environmental engineering firm. Cannon has 13 years of experience working in the cultural resource management and heritage conservation fields both in the public and private sectors including working at the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology at the University of Arizona for two years. During her career, she has participated in over 100 archaeological and ethnographic projects in the U.S. Southeast, Southwest, Plains, and Central America. Her work has included directing both prehistoric and historical archaeological excavations, conducting artifact analysis for historic ranching, mining, and homestead sites, and landscape documentation projects. Cannon was recently one of a group of recipients given the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission Preservation Award. Her interests involve large-scale land management strategies for the conservation of archaeological and cultural landscapes, GIS modeling, architectural history, and the documentation of marginalized or contested heritage resources.​
