Architecture Degree Program
Christopher Domin is an architect and educator at the University of Arizona's College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture. He specializes in teaching design studios, material technology courses and history/theory seminars that focus on mid-twentieth century architecture and contemporary practice. In recognition of outstanding teaching and service, the college presented him with Dobras Awards for Excellence in 2003 and 2004.
Christopher is a co-author of the book, Paul Rudolph: The Florida Houses, published by Princeton Architectural Press. He is also the co-curator of a comprehensive traveling exhibition dedicated to Rudolph’s innovative practice in Florida. His research has been supported by grants from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, the J. B. Jackson Endowment, and the Paul Rudolph Foundation.
Christopher continues to lecture internationally on the topic of regional modernism and technological innovation. He is currently focused on critical practice issues within the Desert Southwest, including the work of experimental pioneers such as Arthur Brown and Judith Chafee. A new book about the life and work of Judith Davidson Chafee, Architect (1932-1998) is in progress: Fall 2019 Release Date. A collaborative book on the work of Victor Lundy, published by Princeton Architectural Press, is available in 2018.
Before joining the CAPLA faculty, Christopher practiced in Georgia and New Mexico where his collaborative work on regionally inflected public buildings received considerable recognition. He is the recipient of numerous design awards and his interest in situated practice continues to inspire built work. Domin received a Master of Architecture degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology/Ecole d'Architecture de Paris: La Villette. Prior to joining the faculty at UA, he taught design studios and theory/history seminars at the University of New Mexico.
