Sustainable Built Environments
Ladd Keith is a Lecturer in Planning and Sustainable Built Environments and Chair of the Sustainable Built Environments program at The University of Arizona. He researches policy innovation in planning, including the use of climate science in the planning and design of cities. He has affiliations with CLIMAS (Climate Assessment for the Southwest) and CCASS (Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions). He has taught a number of courses including planning for urban resilience, sustainable design and planning, public participation, and planning theory.
Mr. Keith currently serves on the City of Tucson's Planning Commission where, as Chair, he led the commission's public participation process for Plan Tucson: General & Sustainability Plan, which guides city planning policy for the next decade. An active member of the Urban Land Institute, he has participated on several Advisory Service Panels, served on the Sustainable Development Council, was Chair of Southern Arizona, and was a founding member of the Center for Sustainability Advisory Board, ULI Next, and the Southern Arizona Young Leaders Group. In 2016, he was recognized as one of the ULI's 40 under 40, which represent the best young land-use professionals from around the globe, as selected by members of ULI.
Mr. Keith is a native Tucsonan and a graduate of The University of Arizona with a Master of Science in Planning. Prior to his master’s degree, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts with a Minor in Japanese. He currently lives in Tucson with his husband and their son and daughter.
