BA in Design Arts & Practices FAQs

Academics

It is recommended that students attend the BA DAP on a full-time basis in order to progress through the program within four years. However, students may work part-time jobs or internships while in the program.

It is highly recommended that BA DAP students begin the program during the fall semester. However, students may be admitted for spring semester or otherwise transfer into the program after the first semester and be able to successfully integrate into the program.

Yes, Design Arts and Practices students may join B.Arch, BLA and Sustainable Built Environments students for summer study abroad opportunities.

There are computers available in the studio and computer lab; however, they are often used for courses. It is strongly recommended that you bring your own laptop computer to campus. Personal computers must meet specific computer requirements in order to run the necessary software.

Due to current building renovations at CAPLA West, tours are limited. However, we offer virtual tours and you may connect with our recruitment and outreach coordinator to discuss the program, including sitting in an online class. You may also connect with our Student Ambassadors, who are happy to tell you about the studio spaces and other building features.

IN-STATE TUITION AND FEES
Per semester (7+ units):

$5,935.50 tuition + $300 differential tuition + $867.48 fees

OUT-OF-STATE TUITION AND FEES
Per semester (12+ units):

$19,670 + $300 differential tuition + $867.48 fees
