The College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) is made up of two schools, the School of Architecture and the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning. The college, schools, degree programs, research, and outreach all focus on aspects of the built environment. CAPLA offers two undergraduate degrees, a professionally accredited 5-year Bachelor of Architecture degree and a 4-year applied Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments degree. For more information on either program, please complete the Request for Information Form.
Bachelor of Architecture
This NAAB-accredited 5-year professional degree program prepares graduates for professional registration and practice in the field of architecture and design.
Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments
Students learn solutions-based environmental design, planning and management practices in this program which is offered via both main-campus and online.
CAPLA offers five graduate degrees and two formally recognized dual degrees: from the School of Architecture a professionally accredited Master of Architecture and a research-intensive Master of Science in Architecture degree; from the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning, the professionally accredited degrees Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Urban Planning, as well as the professionally focused Master of Real Estate Development. Also offered are three formally recognized dual degrees, the Master of Science in Urban Planning/Master of Business Administration, and the Master of Science in Urban Planning/Master of Real Estate Development, and the Master of Architecture/Master of Science in Architecture. Master of Architecture
This NAAB-accredited professional STEM degree places an emphasis on critical practice and sustainable design honed by the poetics of place.
Master of Landscape Architecture
This LAAB-accredited professional degree prepares students for the practice of landscape architecture and engages them in applied scholarship.
Master of Real Estate Development
This degree is perfect for professionals who are or intend to become real estate developers and industry leaders. It is offered via both main-campus and online.
Master of Science in Architecture
With seven different options of study, this post-graduate STEM degree program is devoted to applied research in the built environment.
Master of Science in Urban Planning
This PAB-accredited professional degree program emphasizes sustainable urban and regional planning through a diverse and multidisciplinary learning experience.
Dual Degree: Master of Architecture & Master of Science of Architecture
This coordinated degree is available for students interested in a professional NAAB accredited degree of architecture along with a research focus in design and energy conservation, emerging building technologies, health and the built environment, heritage conservation, sustainable market transformation, urban design or your own personal interest.
Dual Degree: Master of Business Administration & Master of Science in Urban Planning
This coordinated degree is available for students interested in business and development, green building, land and resource use, and regional planning.
Dual Degree: Master of Real Estate Development & Master of Science in Urban Planning
This coordinated degree is for students who are interested in the development of sustainable built environments through the practices of responsible real estate development and urban planning.
