Camp Architecture

Camp Architecture has been cancelled for summer 2020.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but due to public health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have cancelled Camp Architecture this summer.

For those who have registered, refunds will automatically be issued. Please allow up to 15 business days for the credit to be reflected back to the original form of payment. If you do not receive a refund within 15 business days, please contact Allison Giddings at

We look forward to offering our dynamic Camp Architecture in the summer of 2021!

Camp Architecture is a specially designed five-day summer day camp geared toward middle school and high school students interested in the field of architecture.

Participants learn to draw by hand and on the computer, construct models in the CAPLA Materials Lab, test structural models and learn about careers in sustainability and in the design field.

Led by registered architect and CAPLA faculty member Valerie Lane, this dynamic summer day camp offers aspiring young architects a unique glimpse into the world of design. At Camp Architecture, young scholars work with practicing architects and architecture students.

Camp Architecture participants:

  • Use real tools
  • Work with real materials
  • Experience real buildings

Each session is a sequence of highly orchestrated workshops. Returning campers are welcome and will be offered a unique experience that immerses them further into the design process. This year we are adding an advanced camp interdisciplinary project with the College of Engineering summer camp, too. Registration is managed through Campus Recreation. Please note this is a day camp only; CAPLA does not provide lodging for campers who come from out-of-town.
