Camp Architecture Will Return in Summer 2022

March 11, 2021

The College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona is not hosting Camp Architecture this summer due to constraints around social distancing, campus facilities use and digital delivery of the camp experience.

Camp Architecture will return in-person with its full range of interactive activities in summer 2022, public health guidelines permitting.

In the absence of Camp Architecture, we recommend sketching. Encourage youth to draw their surroundings in order to see new things, change perspective and hone their skills and style. In their creative efforts, youth can focus on such factors as light/shade, patterns, color, texture, form, construction details and composition.

Local art stores also offer resources for sketching and otherwise visualizing and representing the built and natural environments around us—such as sketch pads and journals, pens and pencils, postcard and water color kits and more. Posner’s Art Store in Tucson, for example, offers the CAPLA HeadSPACE Kit, which contains a mixed-media postcard pack, watercolor set, brushes and more at a discounted rate. Learn more and purchase your kit.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. For additional information, or to join our mailing list for the Summer 2022 Camp Architecture, please contact Luis Zozaya, recruitment and outreach coordinator, at zozaya@arizona.edu.
