The town of Marana invested heavily in its history and culture this month, to the tune of $395,000.

That's how much it spent on May 2 to buy 28.8 acres that it had been leasing from the Arizona State Land Department as a home for part of its Heritage River Park, 12375 N. Heritage Park Drive.

The goal for the park when the land was first leased in 2003 was to turn it into the ultimate resource for anyone looking for what Marana once was - an outdoor space reflecting the town's rural roots, with everything from a demonstration farm to an equine facility.
