CAPLA Students Explore Smart Cities and Global Planning Innovation in Japan

Led by faculty member Brian Bidolli, the CAPLA Study Abroad program “Cities of the Future: Japan” combined classroom learning with site visits in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Students explored smart cities and sustainable urban development through lectures, professional meetings, cultural excursions, and visits to cutting-edge institutions. The program offered an immersive experience that connected theory with practice while deepening students’ global perspective on planning and design.

Drachman Design Build Coalition Residence 3

The Drachman Design-Build Coalition Residence 3 is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence of 1200 square feet in area. The main building features include two courtyards that allow natural light and ventilation to reach all habitable spaces, a sliding wall panel that enables reconfiguration of interior space, a super-insulated building envelope, and innovative use of polycarbonate sheathing.

Arthur C. Nelson Endows Student Fellowship

CAPLA Honors Scott Pask

CAPLA honors Scott Pask as the 2019 Alumni of the Year. Scott is a member of the B.Arch Class of 1990, is a Tony-award winning scenic designer and the creative genius behind some of Broadway's most acclaimed productions.

2019 Transportation Research

The University of Arizona is part of the National Institute for Transportation and Communities (NITC), one of five National University Transportation Centers funded by the United States Department of Transportation. NITC is a network transportation researchers and educators from Portland State University, University of Utah, University of Oregon, Oregon Institute of Technology, and University of Texas Arlington.
