Women in Design: A Panel

Sponsored by Women in Architecture Society (WIAS) and School of Architecture

4:30 p.m., March 12, 2021

In this panel, women in the design industry discuss their journey as a woman in the academic and the professional world. Our panelists will inspire and encourage others to question the norms of society, challenge the way things have always been and change how the future of design will be shaped.

The design industry has been primarily dominated by men for the past couple of centuries. Women like panelists Robin, Tatyana, Teresa, Claudia, Marcy, Kathy and Esthela have defied the boundaries of gender roles and become leaders in their firms and businesses. They contribute a different perspective of the design industry.

Special thanks to our panelists:

  • Robin Shambach, Principal + Architect, BWS Architects
  • Tatyana Bresler, Principal + Architect, Eglin+Bresler Architects
  • Teresa Rosano, Co-Founder + Principal Architect, Ibarra Rosano Architects
  • Claudia Kappl Joy, Co-Founder + Certified Lighting Designer, Concept Lighting Lab
  • Marcy Ellis, Artist, Marcy Ellis
  • Kathy Hancox, Principal + Architect, HK Associates
  • Esthela Celaya, Owner + Principal Interior Designer, Celaya Solaway Interiors
