Wonder in Austin: CAPLA and UArizona at SXSW

Image

When

midnight to 11:50 p.m., March 11 to 13, 2022

Join CAPLA for the University of Arizona's inaugural presence at SXSW March 11-13 as we bring boundary-pushing arts, sciences and human inquiry together under a Tucson sky—all in the heart of Austin.

Sit in on conversations between architects designing to adapt to our new social and climate reality, talks from creative leaders building worlds real and imagined and NASA scientists reaching out to understand our origins.

CAPLA presentations and experiences include:

  • Aletheia Ida on new sustainable building technologies
  • Jonathan Bean on modern building practices stemming from the Solar Decathlon challenge
  • Kenneth Kokroko and Kendra Hyson on community-based planning
  • Kirk Dimond on agrivoltaics and green rooftops
  • Esther Sternberg and Rocky Crocker on health and wellness in the built environment
  • Inside a Critique interactive video on the design review process

Between talks, stay dry even as you are surrounded with a full-blown monsoon and an immersive birth of a star. Be a border voyeur, get above it all on the rooftop patio and rock out nightly to XIXA's special blend of psycho-cumbia.

The Arizona Wonder House opens at Fogo de Chão in downtown Austin, right across from the Austin Convention Center. For a detailed event overview and schedule visit sxsw.arizona.edu.

RSVP to keep up to date with new experiences and speakers.

We can’t wait to see you in Austin!
