Biography

Shannon is a member of the Hopi Tribe and was born and raised on First Mesa in northeastern Arizona.  She attended and received her BA in Geology from, Occidental College in Los Angeles.  After years of living and working in California, she returrned home to Arizona for graduate school and received her MS in Urban Planning.  Shannon has more than ten years of experience working in the planning field with the City of Signal Hill, California, Town of Marana, Arizona and most recently Thurston County, Washington where she is an associate planner.  She continues to focus her work with underserved and tribal communities through community engagement, subarea, and comprehensive long-range planning.  Shannon is an active member of APA, serves as an Executive Board member of the AFSCME Local 618 union, and recently joined the board of the Wa-Ya Outdoor School in Puget Sound.
