CAPLA students, I am Nancy Pollock-Ellwand, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture.
Now that it’s summer, I wanted to extend a note of thanks for your diligent work over the previous academic year. Though you were challenged in truly unexpected ways, you pushed through. Your resilience—your success—deserves recognition. Thank you—and congratulations.
This fall, we are excited to return to in-person instruction and a more normal semester at CAPLA. Our faculty are eager to support you and help in your continued success. They’ll continue to challenge you, of course, but that’s to help you grow in life-changing ways.
Knowing that the University of Arizona will resume full in-person classes this fall, I encourage you to return to Tucson before the semester begins. Get settled in, and then be ready to join us in our world-class facilities. For some of you, this will be the first time in our building. For others, it will be a return. For all of you, it will be the chance to learn among and from your outstanding peers, face to face, in a special place designed for you to excel.
I also strongly encourage you to make an appointment with your advisor via Trellis, if you haven’t already, so that you may register for your fall courses. The sooner you solidify your plans, the better prepared we all will be to welcome you back.
And welcoming you back to CAPLA is something we’ve really been looking forward to during the pandemic. You are why we’re here, and why we’ll do everything we can to help you in your academic career—and beyond.
It’s going to be a great year. We can’t wait to see you in August!
