Four Questions with Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments Student Shamara Smith

As soon as I took a climate change class, I realized can do a lot more with sustainability.

Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments student Shamara Smith, who has a Minor in American Sign Language, came to the University of Arizona from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her SBE capstone project, Infrastructure's Influence on Active Travel in Arizona, demonstrates that improving cyclist and pedestrian facilities improves safety for these increasingly popular "active travel" modes of transit. In this video profile, Shamara discusses how she became interested in sustainability, her passions for leaving the world better than she found it through sustainable buildings and transportation, why community engagement is important and the value of networking in building a new career.
