Scott Pask, BArch Class of 1990, is a Tony-award winning scenic designer and the creative genius behind some of Broadway’s most acclaimed productions, including The Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, The Band’s Visit, Waitress, Something Rotten and The Prom.
Based in New York City, Scott combines his training as an architect with his deep appreciation for the arts into a unique response for the stage. Scott’s visions demonstrate endless imagination, discipline and powerful and stark emotion. The result is a compelling built expression of place that supports the story being told with infinite discipline and attention to detail. Scott attributes much of his success to his design education at the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, applying the principles and perspective of his architectural training to create exceptional visual effects.
Scott is highly sought after by the preeminent producers, directors and actors of our time, and has received the most prestigious recognition bestowed in the field of theater. He received Tony Awards for The Book of Mormon, The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center, and the Pillowman. Scott’s work has also been distinguished with multiple Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel, Bessie and Henry Hewes Awards.
Born and raised in Yuma, Scott maintains ties with Arizona and the UA. He relishes returning to Tucson for recharge and respite. When he visits, he is mindful of taking in the blue skies, mountain views and the sharp contrasts of light and shadow in the desert throughout the day and changing seasons. His visions of the desert sustain Pask as his work takes him around the world.
