Welcome to your community of like-minded design thinkers and change makers.
The BA Design Arts and Practices program is home to a diverse and creative group of students who share a passion for design thinking and design making as a tool to creating a more environmentally and socially just world.
Whether it’s the tight-knit community you’ll form with your cohort, the variety of student organizations or the interactive activities offered through HeadSPACE, you’ll find the student experience at CAPLA is rewarding in a way that only rigorous programs can be.
Our interdisciplinary faculty are approachable and eager to help you succeed.

Over the past three years I have been able to create amazing relationships with my professors and peers. The size has allowed me to create an open-ended dialogue with many of my professors in and out of the classroom.

Meet CAPLA Students
Students come to the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture from across the country and around the world. Their interests and passions are broad. Meet a few of our students:

Tayler Forsberg, who is from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, will graduate from the Bachelor of Architecture program in May 2022. He then plans to attend graduate school before working towards becoming a registered architect and, eventually, teaching.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Emma Nakpairat came to CAPLA and the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program in Tucson to be inspired by the Sonoran Desert—and to combine her love of the outdoors with her thirst to improve the environment in which we live.

Bachelor of Architecture student David Zúñiga is from Nogales, Arizona. In this profile, he discusses his passion for cinema and architecture, how architecture school makes him a critical thinker, his experience in the CAPLA Hispanic student organization PUENTE, how he's learning to be patient and more.

We hate to give away our best-kept secret, but Tucson is one of the best places to live in the country (and Outside magazine agrees).
Located in the lush Sonoran desert, the metropolitan area of a million people is nestled between five mountain ranges, has a world-renowned multicultural food scene and eclectic neighborhoods and offers year-round outdoor activities, including cycling, hiking, rock climbing and astronomy. You’ll fit right in.
