Biography

Christopher Tucker is a lecturer at the University of Arizona, where he teaches studio courses across the undergraduate curriculum, including advanced studios and electives focused on the intersections of architectural design and ecological systems. His teaching emphasizes relationships between design and ecosystems, encouraging students to understand architecture as an active participant in ecological processes.
Raised in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia, Tucker developed an early fascination with the relationships between people and their environments. He received both his Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science in Building Construction from Virginia Tech, where his undergraduate thesis explored architectures for non-human species—a topic that continues to inform his work, both in practice and education.

Before entering academia, Tucker worked as a project designer for Cloud 9 Architects, contributing to a range of projects. In practice, he collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to develop concepts and designs that integrated ecological systems and habitat spaces within building programs. Earlier in his teaching career, he developed and taught core design studios at Arizona State University.
