About Starr Herr-Cardillo

Starr Herr-Cardillo

Starr Herr-Cardillo is the Director of Preservation at Mission San Xavier del Bac in AZ, which is widely regarded as the premier example of Spanish Colonial architecture in the United States. In her current role, she works with local communities to maintain the living heritage site through traditional materials, cultural knowledge, and techniques. She holds a Master’s in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania. Starr is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Arizona, where she also serves as Chair of the program in Heritage Conservation.

CAPLA faculty awarded grant to support planning in Idaho community

Associate Professors Philip Stoker and Shujuan Li have received a two-year grant to support community scenario planning and long-term water supply strategies in Blaine County, Idaho, a rapidly growing gateway region facing increasing development and water resource pressures. By combining urban growth modeling, water demand forecasting and spatial analysis, their work will help local leaders understand how different development patterns could impact future water availability.
