Robin Shambach is one of 18 distinguished alumni honored during the University of Arizona’s Alumni of the Year Awards Ceremony on February 27. The award recognizes individuals for their professional achievements, public service, advocacy for education, volunteerism, and contributions to students, their college, and the university.

The ninth edition of [ABouT] Journal, [ABouT] CHANGE, was created by CAPLA students to explore change in the Southwest through student projects, interdisciplinary work, and expert insights, while also giving students hands-on experience in publishing and collaboration.

Architecture begins with an idea—one strong enough to endure the journey from concept to reality. In his lecture, Daniel Toole reflects on his studio’s first five years, exploring projects across the western landscape, from the Pacific Northwest to Joshua Tree, and recent housing work that navigates growing urban constraints.

CAPLA is proud to announce the launch of the CAPLA Lecture Series, which featured renowned architect, academic, and writer, Professor Lesley Lokko, OBE, RIBA as the inaugural speaker.

The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) has named Teresa Rosano, assistant professor of practice, the winner of the Distinguished Professor Award.

Bob Vint, assistant professor of practice in the School of Architecture, collaborated with the Rancho Feliz Charitable Foundation to design La Hacienda Feliz, a traditional courtyard-style dormitory in Agua Prieta, blending his lifelong connection to Mexican culture with a commitment to addressing systemic poverty through architecture, while also providing CAPLA students an immersive experience in border communities and the challenges they face.

Ronald Rael dives into his groundbreaking initiative, "Mud y Robots." This innovative project merges the ancient art of earthen building with the latest in additive manufacturing technology to create sustainable housing solutions with the potential to transform our planet.

Beth Weinstein, associate professor in the School of Architecture, spoke about her recently published monograph, "Architecture and Choreography: Collaborations in Dance, Space and Time," and the unique interdisciplinary encounters and performed events generated through collaborations between architects and choreographers.

Sponsored by Jones Studio, the Grand Challenges Lecture Series aims to engage students, faculty, and the broader professional community with thought leaders across disciplines who are actively shaping the future of architecture and society.

Beth Weinstein, acting associate dean of academic affairs and associate professor of architecture, was a guest on the "A is for Architecture" Podcast to discuss her recent book, "Architecture + Choreography: Collaborations in Dance, Space and Time."

CAPLA Assistance Professor Jonathan Bean emphasized the need for energy-efficient AI systems in a September "InformationWeek" article. He cautioned that unchecked AI growth could jeopardize sustainability efforts, urging a balance between technological progress and environmental responsibility.
